Position Summary
The Part-Time Physical Therapist plays a key role in supporting the mission of the Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinsons Wellness of improving the quality of life for people with Parkinsons through the development and delivery of free activity-based programs. This position focuses on performing mobility assessments to ensure members can safely participate in exercise programs and may also include opportunities to teach or assist with group exercise classes.

Were seeking a collaborative, compassionate Physical Therapist with a passion for Parkinsons care and wellness. This role includes regularly scheduled hours with weekday availability to support member assessments, along with optional Saturday opportunities based on the candidates availability and Center programming needs.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct functional assessments to evaluate strength, balance, mobility, and endurance in individuals with Parkinsons disease.
Screen new and existing members for safe participation in group exercise and wellness programs.
Collaborate with other Coaches to optimize participant safety and outcomes.
Educate Members and Care Partners about exercise safety, fall prevention, and Parkinsons-specific movement strategies.
(Optional) Teach or co-lead group PD-specific exercise classes.

Qualifications
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
Current Michigan Physical Therapy license in good standing.
Experience working with individuals with Parkinsons disease or other neurological conditions preferred but not required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
Certification in PWR!Moves, or other Parkinsons-specific training preferred but not required.
Current CPR/First Aid certification required.

Work Schedule
Status: Part-Time (approximately 16 hours per week; flexible based on availability and program needs)
Typical Schedule: Primarily weekday hours to support member assessments, classes, and programming needs. Optional Saturday opportunities may be available based on therapist interest and Center needs.
Environment: Supportive, wellness-oriented team dedicated to empowering individuals with Parkinsons disease through movement and education.
