Casual CT Technologist

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Casual CT Technologist to join our collaborative imaging team. This is a flexible opportunity requiring a minimum commitment of eight hours per pay period , one weekend per month , and at least one holiday per year . There are no on‑call responsibilities , making this an excellent option for professionals seeking work‑life balance while continuing to grow their career.

Qualifications
  • Candidates at all levels of the imaging career ladder —including Diagnostic Technologists and CT Technologists —are encouraged to apply.
  • Placement on the career ladder will be based on experience, education, and licensure .
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform computed tomography procedures using established scan protocols, including contrast administration, while working independently and confidently.
  • Apply sound clinical judgment to adjust imaging protocols as needed, ensuring appropriate use of ionizing radiation for high‑quality diagnostic results.
  • Operate advanced imaging equipment for image acquisition, reconstruction, analysis, and documentation, completing all exams according to departmental standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture and the safe use of power injectors in alignment with departmental and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast in accordance with physician orders and departmental policy, while assessing patients for potential risk factors prior to contrast administration.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient‑centered care by interacting with patients and colleagues with professionalism, dignity, respect, and attentiveness.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, explaining procedures in an understandable way to ease anxiety and encourage cooperation.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification using two identifiers and follow universal protocols for all procedures; review patient history and physician orders to apply the appropriate imaging protocols and document required information in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain accurate exam coding, tracking, and documentation within the RIS system; ensure images are properly archived and available for interpretation; verify that all charges are entered correctly.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with system‑wide competencies and behaviors , and complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education

  • Graduate of an ARRT‑approved Radiologic Technology program or completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology (CNMT) program .
  • ARRT Registry–Eligible Technologists must successfully obtain their ARRT certification within 6 months of hire .
  • CT Registry must be obtained within 18 months of:
    • The date your primary registry is earned, or
    • Your hire date, if the primary registry is already held.
  • CNMT Program Graduates must obtain CNMT certification within 6 months of hire .
Licensure, Certifications & Clearances
  • ARRT Certification or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTCB)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification
Licensure & Certification Details
  • Candidates must be ARRT‑certified as a Radiologic Technologist or certified through a CNMT program .
  • Registry‑eligible technologists are expected to obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of hire .
  • CT Registry must be completed within 18 months of the primary registry or hire date (if already certified).
  • CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT certification within 6 months of hire .
  • CPR or BLS certification is required , following American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including both didactic instruction and hands‑on skills validation, within 30 days of hire .
New York State–Specific Requirements
  • CT Technologists working in New York facilities and performing contrast media injections must:
    • Hold ARRT or NMTCB certification , and
    • Be licensed through the New York State Department of Health .
Temporary Permit Information (If Applicable)
  • Technologists practicing under a temporary permit :
    • May not administer IV contrast or participate in contrast‑enhanced CT exams requiring IV administration.
    • Must work under the direct supervision of a licensed Radiologic Technologist.
    • Must obtain ARRT certification within 180 days of permit issuance.
  • Temporary permits expire upon the earliest of:
    • 180 days from issuance
    • Notice of license application denial
    • 10 days after notification of failure of the licensing exam
