Job Description

This role supports research and data initiatives at a leading asset manager by providing compliance and legal advisory related to data sourcing, technology, and research activities. The position focuses on conducting due diligence on third-party data providers, advising internal research and investment teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies. The role also involves collaborating with legal and compliance colleagues to strengthen best practices, evaluate emerging regulatory developments, and support strategic initiatives related to data usage, research workflows, and technological solutions. This is a hybrid role based in New York City. Responsibilities Conduct due diligence reviews of potential data providers and other non–sell-side research sources, including assessing compliance policies, data usage rights, authorization to license or distribute data, and adherence to applicable federal and state regulations. Prepare due diligence memoranda documenting findings and risk assessments related to third-party data and research providers. Review and document requests related to automated open-source programs and research tools. Provide compliance monitoring and support to research-focused discretionary investment teams and market intelligence functions. Support compliance oversight for quantitative investment strategies and related teams. Assist with negotiating and reviewing contracts with data and research providers. Contribute to drafting, enhancing, and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and best practices related to data and research activities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the broader Compliance and Legal teams on regulatory and operational matters. Monitor regulatory developments and relevant case law and assist in advising stakeholders and management on potential impacts. Support the development and refinement of internal policies, guidance materials, and training programs. Assist with ad hoc legal and compliance issues, special projects, and strategic initiatives. Qualifications 1–3 years of compliance experience within the financial services industry. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizational abilities. High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
